Don't write checks you can't cash

I think it is sound financial advice not to write a check that will bounce. I also think it is sound advice when the topic is "words coming out of your mouth." Case in point, this story.

I had to run to the train (nothing new), so I missed the build up to the "fight." I bet it was good too... as I jumped onto the train through the closing doors I was confronted with this scene... right out of a movie... well, at least the dialogue was.

Middle age white guy, staring creepily at a girl of... maybe 16? then the girls boyfriend stands up and says, "you scheming on my girl?" (seriously, I wasn't joking about the dialogue).

White guy, "what you gonna do about it?"

Boyfriend - lots of expletives that amounted to "I will introduce you to my fist."

(ready for the best part?)

White guy, "There are people in this world you don't want to mess with, I am one of them."

Right after he says this, the teenage boy pops him right in the jaw and he goes down like a chump. Then the train stops at Union Station, and everyone files out past the guy on the ground.

This episode taught me that I love LA for a few reasons. 1) They speak in Movie dialogue as though it is natural. 2) 90% percent of the people here have totally over inflated egos (so much so, that they can say "I am one of them" with a straight face). And 3) not a single person thought to check on the moron, they all just walked over and around him to get to where they were going, it was just business as usual.
